When is Walk4Friendship?
Walk4Friendship will be held on Sunday, August 29th.
Is there a fee to register?
No, the event is free. However, we encourage everyone to take part by fundraising beforehand. Knowing you have your family and friends’ support makes it even more fulfilling and fun!
If I have pre-registered, do I need to check in somewhere?
If you registered online and picked up your t-shirt from Friendship Circle in advance, you do not need to check-in.
Can I register on the day of the walk?
Yes, registration tables will be at Farber Center. Registration will open at 10:30 AM. To minimize your wait time, we recommend registering online. Click here to register.
Is there a fee to receive a Walk4Friendship t-shirt?
T-shirts are free to walk registrants that register online before the walk and to people who register the day of the walk on location, as long as it is before the opening ceremony. Walk t-shirts will be available at the post-walk carnival for $5.
Where should I park?
Parking will be at the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit D. Dan & Betty Kahn Building Eugene & Marcia Applebaum Jewish Community Campus, 6600 West Maple Road, West Bloomfield. We strongly suggest you arrive by 10:30 am to ensure you don’t miss the opening ceremony.
Are shuttles available?
Yes, shuttles are available during and after the walk.
To the opening ceremony: Shuttles will transport participants from the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit D. Dan & Betty Kahn Building Eugene & Marcia Applebaum Jewish Community Campus to Farber Center starting at 9:30 am and will run regularly until 11:30 am.
From the opening ceremony to Meer Center: After the walk begins at 11:45 am, supporters who prefer not to walk can take a shuttle directly to Meer Center, where they can cheer on family and friends!
After 11:30 am, all shuttles from the Jewish Community Center of Metropolitan Detroit D. Dan & Betty Kahn Building Eugene & Marcia Applebaum Jewish Community Campus will go directly to Meer Center. Shuttles will return supporters to their cars when they are done enjoying the festivities.
Is there Wheelchair Accessible Parking?
Wheelchair-accessible parking is available. There is a wheelchair-equipped shuttle to opening ceremonies. Please let a staff member know that you need a wheelchair-accessible bus.
Can I come to only the activities at the Meer Center campus?
Yes, you can. Activities will be running from noon-3 pm.
What happens if it rains?
The event must go on! We will accommodate the rain changes by moving most of our activities inside. If severe weather is expected, we will send you a text message with a "rain plan" on the morning of the walk. Make sure you register for text notifications by visiting https://www.walk4friendship.com/sms.
Will there be food and water? Is there a charge?
Yes, we will be providing food and refreshments both at the Farber Center and Meer Center campuses. All food and refreshments are free of charge!
Will there be any services for emergencies throughout the day?
Yes, we will have a first aid station along with the West Bloomfield Fire Department and Ambulance on hand.
Will there be any security?
Yes, security will be placed throughout the event.
